Unit Project:  American Colonies

RETURN TO: American Colonies Passage

Pretend that your family and ten other families have settled in a small valley.  Your farms are doing very well.  All of you decide to start a village in the middle of the valley.

The place you have picked has 10 possible building spots.  You  need to decide what each spot will be used for. You may want more than one spot for some things.  For example, you may want three spots for stores and one spot for a church.  These are just ideas.  You must plan your own village.

When you talk about one spot out of ten, you can also call that spot one tenth – 1/10.  Two spots out of ten would be two tenths or 2/10.  Three spots out of ten would be 3/10.  Use these words (fractions) to describe your village plan.

Create a drawing or design of your village.  Later, you will have to describe it.

You may work alone or in a group.

Sign and date your drawing with labels, and place it in your folder for your instructor.
