Put the parts of each sentence together.  Add any punctuation that’s needed.

The phrases or words below are our of order. Place them next to each other to form a complete sentence.

Example: that need them, Blood carries, to the parts, disease fighters, of the body    

Answer:  Blood carries disease fighters to the parts of the body that need them.

1. 2 to3 ounces of blood,  With each heartbeat,  of the heart, are pumped out

     

     2.  The circulatory system,  about a gallon and a half of blood, through the human body,  moving,   keeps

   

       3.  about 75 beats,  For a female,  per minute,  is,  a normal heart rate

   

    4.  in a lifetime,  The heart beats,  and 3 billion times,  between 2.5 billion

   

    5.  In a heart attack,  or destroyed,  some of the heart muscle,  is damaged

   

Optional Discussion Activity

Discuss the differences in the sentences you and other students put together.  Are the differences significant?  Does one kind of sentence make better sense?  Does the meaning of any of the versions of a sentence change?
